Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at Casa Oxytocin or go exploring the wonderful Yucatan culture.
The house is located in the heart of the Yucatán peninsula, and are surrounded by important and good preserved Maya and hispanic culture like the Pyramid Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Dzibitzaltun, haciendas, the authentic colonial cultural cities Merida or Campeche. Other attractions include cooling off in cenotes (natural sinkholes), visiting the Biosphere Reserve Rio Lagartos and The Ecological Reserve Corchito. You should also try to see some flamingos at Ria Celestun or go windsurfing.
Testimonials
The house is located near the beach and in walking distance to the city centre. We would definitely recommend this place.
The house's location was close enough so that we could easily walk to the Malecon and the downtown Progreso market, but far enough away so that we got to experience the less ``touristy`` parts of Progreso. Although we were in Mexico, the house itself felt much more European or American than Mexican-- in other words, we truly felt ``at home.`` Even during our stay, Jannicke was quick to respond to AirBnB messages.
The only real surprise was that the realty/cleaning company required us to pay cash for our electricity consumption before we left. (We knew we had to pay for electricity before leaving, but I assumed it would either come out of our security deposit or be charged to my credit card). Luckily we had enough cash on had to cover the bill with no trouble. (I would recommend only running the air-conditioning at night, with the bedroom doors closed).
Over-all, we had a lovely experience at Jannicke's Casa Oxytocin, and I would definitely book it again, if given the opportunity.
